Swarovski sees China sparkling as crystal clear as its offerings
CRYSTAL stones were once the childhood toys for Robert Buchbauer, who adored the small sparkling objects a lot and buried them in the yard as treasures.
Now, as a member of Swarovski's Executive Committee (Swarovski Crystal Board), the young businessman has more reasons to indulge himself in the beautiful world of crystals while pursuing the vision of his great grandfather Daniel Swarovski, who founded the Swarovski Company in 1895.
"Swarovski has given to crystal a new hallmark, an image of luxury," declared Buchbauer, as the head of Swarovski's consumer goods business division. "It was able to create a new lifestyle, I would say, a unique and expressive 'art de vivre."'
Buchbauer studied business and management in Innsbruck, Austria, then at the University of Berkeley. After graduating, he joined the Wyberg Spice Industries Company as product and marketing manager. This experience enabled him to return to the family business where, over the past 10 years, he has gradually climbed the career ladder.
"The former working experience helped me build up strong organization and adaptability skills, and gave me the flexibility to handle multi-tasks under tight deadlines," he said.
